Serving sizes

Maple Syrup changes rating with portion size. These are the amounts tested in the literature behind our ratings.

  • About 20mL Low
  • Larger portions Moderate
  • Much larger portions High

Maple syrup is Low FODMAP at 1 tablespoon (20mL), moderate at 40mL and high at 51mL.

  • Maple syrup is low at 1 tablespoon (20mL), moderate at 40mL and high at 51mL.
  • Pure maple syrup is mostly sucrose, and no single FODMAP group drives it; the load builds as you pour more. Pancake syrups are a different product, so look for 100% pure maple syrup.

A tablespoon drizzled over oats or yogurt keeps it in the low range.
