Serving sizes
Lima Bean changes rating with portion size. These are the amounts tested in the literature behind our ratings.
- About 20g
- Larger portions
- Much larger portions
Lima beans are High FODMAP at a usual serving, though about 20g is low.
- A spoonful of 20g is low.
- GOS and Fructans climb quickly, so larger portions reach moderate and much larger portions reach high.
- Canned and well-rinsed beans lose some of these water-soluble carbs, but the level still adds up as the portion grows.
Keep to a small serving if you want them on the plate, or lean on firm tofu when you need a bigger protein hit.
